A 19-yard touchdown pass with twenty-two seconds remaining sealed a 28–24 win for the home side Friday night in southwest Missouri, capping one of the most competitive prep football rivalries in the state.

The visiting team had taken the lead with just over three minutes to play, setting up a final drive that covered 74 yards in nine plays. The game-winning throw, fired across the middle on fourth-and-eight, drew a packed crowd to its feet.

Both programs entered the night ranked in the state's top ten, and coaches on each side said the result will likely shape playoff seeding when brackets are released next week. Combined attendance was reported at just over 6,200, the largest crowd of the season at the venue.

Players on both sides praised the sportsmanship of the matchup, which featured no ejections and only a handful of accepted penalties despite the high stakes and physical play in the trenches.

The two programs are scheduled to meet again next October. Until then, attention turns to the postseason, where each squad is expected to be among the favorites in their respective classes.
